Production Manager

You will be instrumental in helping us establish the culture in our kitchens and refining our standard operating procedures to be able to function in a higher volume kitchen. It is our commitment to you to keep a line of communication open as operations grow and change to ensure you do not become overworked, overloaded or overstretched for any extended period of time. We will work together to grow Decent Bagel in a way that is sustainable for our teams.

Responsibilities

- Lead and support the production team in producing bagels, focaccia, cookies/sweets, frozen take & bake meals, sausage, juices and cream cheeses

- Train all production staff on the various items listed above

- Manage inventory + ordering

- Work directly alongside the FOH management (Audrey & Carl to start) to ensure the FOH & BOH teams are communicating effectively to achieve efficient results

- Accept 'orders' from satellite stores (currently only Ned) to manage product flow/what needs to be produced to support those locations

- Scheduling the production team + managing schedules to ensure nobody goes into overtime regularly

- Weekly ~1 hour check in meetings with upper management (us) 

- Self directed weekly (or monthly, depending on the need) check in meetings with your production team 

- Manage + execute all bagel catering orders

- Monthly "Family Meal" all staff meetings

Compensation + Benefits

$55,000 annual salary in bi-monthly payments 

2 weeks paid vacation

1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked

3. Health, Safety, and Sanitation

  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities, addressing any malfunctions or hazards promptly.

  • Promote and enforce strict hygiene standards among all employees, including handwashing, proper food handling, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate channels immediately and take steps to address them.

  • Paid Sick Leave: Under the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, you can accrue and use paid sick leave for illness, injury, medical care, or needs related to domestic violence, sexual assault, or harassment. Decent Bagel cannot penalize you for using this leave.

4. Customer Service and Bakery Operations

  • Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring positive interactions and effectively resolving customer complaints.

  • Oversee all aspects of purchasing, production, and quality control, ensuring the availability of fresh ingredients and consistent product quality.

  • Manage inventory, track sales, and analyze profitability to ensure the bakery operates efficiently and meets its financial goals.

5. Confidentiality and Compliance

The Employee acknowledges and agrees that all information, materials, and data, whether oral, written, or visual, related to the operations and business of Decent Bagel ("the Company"), are confidential and proprietary to the Company.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Recipes and formulations: Specific ingredients, ingredient ratios, preparation methods, baking processes, and techniques used to create products.

  • Customer information: Customer lists, order histories, preferences, and contact details.

  • Financial data: Sales figures, pricing structures, supplier information, cost of goods, and profit margins.

  • Business strategies: Marketing plans, product development plans, and expansion strategies.

  • Any other information that the Company designates as confidential or that a reasonable person would understand to be confidential given the nature of the

Termination

a. At-Will Employment: Employment with Decent Bagel is on an "at-will" basis, meaning either the Bakery or the Employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any lawful reason or no reason, with or without notice, as recognized under Colorado law.

b. Termination for Cause: The Bakery may terminate the Employee's employment immediately for "Cause" upon written notice. Cause includes substandard performance after notice and opportunity to cure, neglect of duties, repeated policy violations, gross insubordination, willful misconduct, conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude, breach of the agreement, misappropriation of funds or property, or conduct seriously prejudicing the Bakery's interests.

c. Termination by Employee: The Employee may voluntarily terminate their employment by providing [21] days' written notice to the Bakery.

d. Post-Termination Obligations: Upon termination for any reason, the Bakery will pay accrued wages and benefits, including unused vacation, according to the Colorado Wage Claim Act Colorado Revised Statutes §8-4-109. The Employee must return all Bakery property and acknowledges that confidentiality provisions survive termination. The Employee should cooperate to ensure a smooth transition.

Start Date
Employee's start date will be two (2) weeks prior to the confirmed official opening date of Decent Bagel (expected late May 2026). The Company will notify the Employee in writing of the confirmed opening date and subsequent start date at least 7 days in advance.
